It is important to consider seeing a chiropractor or health care professional as soon as possible after an accident. The first hours and days after an injury offer your doctor the most insight into your condition. It is common for symptoms to only present after a few days or weeks. By then, your body has begun to lay down scar tissue around the injury. This can result in ongoing pain for weeks or even years to come.

Whether from a sports injury, car collision, or another type of accident, we specialize in identifying areas needing treatment or physical therapy to recover from injuries of all kinds. WHIPLASH?
The most common whiplash injury symptoms include headaches, neck pain, back pain, shoulder or arm pain. In addition to pain you may experience numbness, tingling or weakness, sleep disturbances, difficulty concentrating, irritability, dizziness, memory loss or jaw pain. Whiplash occurs when your neck is suddenly jolted backwards and forwards. Even low impact collisions can result in injuries, the most common being a rear-end collision. The symptoms of whiplash trauma can differ greatly from patient to patient. Symptoms may appear immediately after accident, or can arise several days later.
HEADACHES & TBI?
When the spinal joints are injured, your muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves around the neck become inflamed, causing headaches. Your head striking an object in the car, such as steering wheel or dashboard can cause traumatic brain injury (TBI). This occurs when the brain is jostled in the skull during the whiplash motion. Traumatic brain injuries are often referred to as concussions. Headaches from concussions can be intense and are often associated with dizziness and nausea. If you think you might have a concussion, you should be aware that you are more sensitive to additional injuries while you recover.
NECK?
Motor vehicle accidents cause injury to the spinal joints in the neck, leading to tension and spasm of the surrounding muscles. Studies show that approximately 40-50% of those injured in car accident suffer from symptoms years later. Trauma from a motor vehicle accident can cause damage to the ligaments in the neck resulting in decreased range of motion, neck stiffness, soreness, and pain. Muscular tightness in both the neck and upper back, or pinching of the nerves the cervical spine leads to neck pain and discomfort.
BACK?
Back pain can be a result from over compensation that occurs due to the lack of mobility in the spine from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. When you are jolted around in a car crash, any part of the spine can sustain injury. The smaller joints in your back called facet joints can be pinched together and then moved apart causing back pain. Discs can also be injured in motor vehicle accidents, which may also result in back pain.
